Thats it Phil,if your there you couldnt leave without spotting a big fleet. Its a shame you wont be listening to 3412s and 3408s but i reckon you,ll soon forget that and feast your eyes.

Shows been and gone. Wondering if there's anything along the way like the big scraper fleet jobs we see on socal EM over next 4-5 days.

cheers

Hey guys.

Phil from OZ here. Nearing the end of a 2 month visit to USA doing all the equipment field days and shows all over the country, visiting from OZ. Got 4-5 days to kill in Socal after attending Best of The West in Santa Margarita up near Paso Robles. Was wondering if there are any big fleet scraper jobs around the area say South-east-west of say Fresno/Bakersfield southwards.

Cheers

Phil

You can find what you are looking for in three manuals by the guy who designed and tested and tabulated the results of those blades.
His name is John Goris, Southwest Research Institute in Kansas. I used to have a set but I no longer do. They should be able to help you. Same guy who devised the exploding blade that everyone says was a myth. It's in those manuals too.

Cheers

Phil in oz.

Hi, Squid_wood777.
I have not been able to get down to So-Cal to check out the various 660-666 fleets. Last I heard, Ralph Metzel still had the fleet that he bought from Madonna, although they may be a bit 'scattered' now, depending on where they last worked, plus several tractors with BeeGees.

I do know where there will be one going around for 3 days next weekend, probably with a 36A D8 with front push pad and rear push block and a 49A D9 'delicately nudging' it to load it. (Santa Margarita Ranch, Santa Margarita, CA., May 27-28-29.) I will try to get some photos and some video of it.

Just my 0.02.

Corona Clay Co has a 66A I think was part of a Quad, push down to accelerate the engine pedal, big box on the floor plates.
Next time out that way I'll grab a couple of photos and serial #
